This comp was announced in the last GSAA newsletter and i did it today. I had a video camera to record the effort and girlfriend to keep time and count reps. So, my contribution is :

Log Cycle Clean and Jerk 2 x16kg KB 10minutes - 28 reps

I'll post the video on YouTube as soon as i can, though i have already seen technique and breathing improvements.

Nice one Vlad...a pr if I'm not mistaken. Going for 10 minutes garners you great respect. And coming from a PL background I know what a huge shift in focus this has been for you. Well done mate!

cheers , Paul

Thanks Paul, it is a PR ! I intend to follow Steve Cotter's advice and not move to 24's until i can do close to 100 reps. I should add i weighed in at 123.5 kg.

That is an excellent result Paul, competition always brings out the best in people, even if you're competing against yourself !

As promised. The video never lies and I am looking at it with the withering critical eye of a russian judge! There is always room for improvement . Back to the toolshed...

Solid effort guys.
With the size of your arms Vlad the 16's would have felt like 24's
Paul- you continue to amaze me at the numbers your putting up.

That is a fine effort Mick. Do you keep a training log somewhere?

Hi Paul,

I don't keep an online log. I am currently re looking at my training program at the moment as I am back training hard at BJJ and MT and don't want to overtrain like I've been doing the last 2-3 weeks.

I might start an online log once I get my program sorted out this week.

I had a month off after the competition and just started training again last week. I got 200 snatches out (with the 12kg) in 10 mins yesterday, an even 100 for each arm and I think my technique was pretty solid - that's 46 more than I managed for the competition. I think everyone at work is sick of me telling them all about it, so I thought I'd tell you guys :D

I had a look at the GSAA website and can't find a date for the next comp. Can I suggest the last weekend in March (so Saturday 29th or Sunday March)? How would this date suit others who want to participate? It would be great to get a final date soon so we can start advertising it around the gym and work on programs for gym members...

Sounds good to me. The NAKF don't seem to have organised one ; this date seems reasonable. There are always excuses to put these things off "a bit longer". So yes I'll support a comp that weekend. The actual day doesn't matter too much.

I'll come up with a list of event options. At a minimum there will be snatch , jerk (2 bells men , one for ladies) , also LCCJ(1 or 2 bells). One hand switch for the 10 minute events. If one chooses a weight appropriate to one's ability that shouldn't be too onerous
