Interesting, I was always under the opinion that pullups did work the lats more particularly when trying to bend the bar to try and engage the lats more. But what is explained in this article does make sense.

Having said that I do alternate days/sets of weighted pullups and chins. I also use grippers, balls, 2x4s to work grip while doing these as well.

I've also being working on bent presses (form is still pretty crap) to work my lats more.

Mick, have you ever visited a climbing gym? The most intense w/o you will ever experience!

Yes Paul, I used to climb outdoors (sport with some trad) but haven't done it for a few years for varying reasons.

Climbing makes the old pullups vs chinups chestnut a bit obsolete ,eh?

I know a smart , extremely fit bloke who gave up kbs because he did not regard them as truly functional in the sense of primal human movement. But given the urban inner city absence of randomly shaped readily scaled natural objects and surfaces , they sure beat exercising on the uber fitness machines of the industrialised (I won't say civilised) world!
