We are effectively 7 weeks out from the comp and i am yet to start training properly in GS. My dad is finishing the new pair of pro 16's i got from Rick and it is time to focus on training.

My goal is to compete in the traditional event - 2 arm jerk and snatches. As far as i know, you are meant to start the second event within 60min of completing the first.

My plan is to train 2 days a week Jerks and 2 days snatches, for example Mon and Wed jerk, Tue and Fri snatch. I was thinking of doing 1min 'on', 1 min 'off' sets for 10 minutes total time. Is this the best way to start ?

Hi Vlad check out:

for a rough guide of how you should break up your weeks' workouts during the competition phase.

For the last comp all I wanted to do was get through the 10 mins, so each week I'd add 30 - 60 secs to my long sets without going to failure (I only did a long set about once a week). It got me there, don't know if it was the most efficient way of training, though. And I was only training for snatches. Your strength is excellent, so I'm guessing for you it will be the endurance you'll need to concentrate on, particularly pacing yourself.

Paul's really the only person who can give you good advice on preparing for comps because he's the only one with enough experience to do so!
