What's the difference between power clubs and those by Rmax?
In a previous post, someone mentioned they differ in length/shape...how?
Shorter? Longer?
I've tried sledge hammer training and had to be careful not to hit the floor when
doing swings...
Any info welcome, thanks!

Welcome Martin,

Ours are slightly shorter and are made from solid milled steel.
Very similar in the way they perform but at a much more affordable price.

Bump! Ladies and Gents, I have to get this off my chest!

Thought i would revive this thread and record something that I did a couple of months ago. I decided to do Scott Sonnon's Trial By Fire Clubbell Routine using Rick's 10kg Power Clubs which I would have thought equates to roughly the 25pound clubbells that is deemed appropriate (for the males) for this workout. I recorded the full details at the RMAx forums: My avatar is Pothose.

Its a terrific little routine whereby you do the following below as quickly as possible

1 club Mill: 135 reps left then right
Double club Swipes: 135 reps
1 club hammer: 65 reps clockwise, switch grip then 65 reps anti clockwise.

I managed to do the whole thing in about 45 mins which I was VERY happy about since my previous best was at just over an hour. However, what I was a little disappointed about was the fact that Sonnon had a verbal go at me over the following:

a) Me daring to call Ricks PowerClubs, Clubbells. Sigh.... i suppose you get SO used to calling it a clubbell that whenever you see an implement that resembles a clubbell, you naturally call it thus. Whatever!
b) Suggesting that because of Sonnon's 'unique' engineering of the clubbell, the PowerClub is merely a leveraging tool and that the 10kg powerclubs equate to the 15pounders rather than the 25pounders. I say codswallop!
c) And then moving onto (although he did apologise - probably can't help himself) for attempting to soft sell me his clubbells due to their engineering precision and thus safer to handle yada yada
D) After all of the above that Rick is a good bloke! Well Rick IS a friggin' good bloke :)

Thanks for listening, I feel better now.

Just plain silly to an adult who understands the world of codswallop. Actually , real authentic Indian club bells as used by by mum in the 30s were made of wood - and the best guys use ones nearly as heavy as Scott. The guys that actually wrestle for hours on end and do thousands of bw squats in a conditioning session after their day job. Respect!
Peter I presume you have the dvd "The Physical Body" ; about Indian wrestling? Great dvd, even though I'm not a wrestler.

Hi Peter,

Are you using power clubs in addition to your kettlebell work or as your primary training tool ?

hi Vlad,

Not really. I only use the things every now and then for variety's sake. When i completed his trial by fire routine, although it made me feel good, i thought to myself "yeah so what?". I only needed a couple of workouts to get the technique right and then attempted the Trial by Fire and was completed.

There is NO carryover of the powerclubs/clubbells to GS work however, there is quite a bit of transfer going the other way.

Its just another tool but my focus is on GS.

Interestingly, over the last several months I have stopped doing a lot of the eclectic lifts that i used to do and simply focus either on jerks or the long cycle. A couple of my mates challenged me several days ago on a man maker routine that they had come up with using various eclectic lifts that takes around 30mins to complete. at the end of the workout, i had finished in 25mins while they were still going after 28mins. To me, thats a practical example of GS' WTH effect. But i'm getting off topic.

What about yourself Vlad, have you used the powerclubs at all?
