Sounds like fun and is right up my alley (ie KB sprint, I have a problem with moderation and pacing in all things)

Who's interested, and with what weight 'bell?

Hi
Here in Thurgoona I have a team of three, we will be using the 24's, sounds like a good comp!

cheers
Mat

I would love to but unless there is a secret group of KB lifting enthusiasts in Darwin that I don't know about, I don't have a 'team'... :(

Great to hear OZ!

You can post your team on Facebook if you use it.
Either on:

http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=57816857240

or

http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=29934307305

or Drop me a line! thierry@kettlebell-fitness.dk

One bell, one platform, it's a relay!
Chalk up your hands real good!

The only exception I'll do is people who can't physically be with their team members due to remote location.
Barbie, no excuses!
Then you can submit 3 videos.
The first 2 persons do 3'15'', the last one one does 3'20''; making a total team set of 9'50'', allowing for change over.

I'm in happy to do a mixed remote team if Winnie and Barbie interested...or else if anyone wants to make it down to my Sydenham 'Courage Corner' I can do it locally.

Barbie
16-01-2009, 08:53 PM
Sure why not, Albi!

We shouldn't get out of it just cause of location ;) (Damn!) hehe!

That's the Spirit, Ozzies!
I have already heard all sorts of excuses from people who, in their own words, "live to train" , and yet feel they aren't quite ready enough to participate. Big girls blouses, if you ask me!
Here in Denmark, I have 2 teams. 4 of those persons have had their first introduction to Jerk and Snatch last night.
And they are keen!

Way to go!

Albi,
Sounds like a plan, I'm happy to do the remote thing also. 32's?

albi

Barbie

What day suits best?

albi
19-01-2009, 10:03 PM
Awesome  8th is the Sunday so thats when I'll be doing it. But I'll create a team page on facebook and you can upload the vid onto it anytime before the 10th March ...oh yeah we need a team name... :?:

Barbie
20-01-2009, 09:51 PM
Wicked wicked. 8th it is.

I'm on facebook so just paste me a link and I'll hook up.

Team name?? hmm. I feel like an outcast...

Just started a bit of specific training for this, the snatches are killing me! It's been a while tho so things should improve reasonably quickly.

frogster

Just a few minor changes guys, but read through.

This is a virtual team event to be held on the first week of March 2009. You decide the date that suits your team best, and send the results by the 8th of March.

There will be a prize for the winner team in Men, Women and Mixed divisions.

Given this is a free virtual event, don’t expect too much…

We ask for a video for judging the winners, full body only.

You can post it on youtube or facebook, under the Danish kettlebell training group.Remeber to send me the link!!!

Men’s biathlon- Bell weight 24 or 32kg. 3 persons per team

10 minutes of push from the breast with 2 shells, aka the double jerk.

Rest ½ hour

10 minutes of rise of one projectile in one clean movement, aka the one arm snatch.

Women’s biathlon- Bell weight 12 or 16kg. 3 persons per team

10 minutes of push from the breast with 1 shell, aka the one arm jerk.

Rest ½ hour

10 minutes of rise of one projectile in one clean movement, aka the one arm snatch.

Mixed team members use bell weight and disciplines corresponding to their gender. 3 persons per team

General rules for the event

All 3 team members use the same bell(s) on one platform/ mat for both disciplines.

(Except mixed teams.Team members in mixed divisions can use different weight for men a women, but you have to lift on the same platform/ mat , and the clock does not stop. Have them near by)

Every team member can only participate once in each discipline.

Participants decide for themselves how long they lift in the 10 minute interval. After the clock starts, it only stops once, when the 10 minutes are up.

Dress code: shorts and t-shirt,( for lock out referee) weightlifting belt ( NOT powerlifting belt) allowed, wristbands OK.

People who can’t physically be with their team members due to remote location:
You can submit 3 videos.
The first 2 persons do 3′15”, the last one one does 3′20”; making a total team set of 9′50”, allowing for change over.

Rules for Jerk

A push press is not a jerk. Full lock out in the knees and elbows, overhead stabilization required( 1second). Rest position in the rack (NOT on SHOULDERS!) or overhead only.

If a team member puts his bell(s) on the floor or can no longer hold the proper rack position, he’s finished and the next team member must come on.

If a team member drops the bell(s) on the floor his numbers are not counted, and he’s out.

Women are allowed a single hand switch.

Rules for Snatch

Full lockout in knees and elbow, Overhead stabilization required( 1second). No Heil Hitler snatches thanks

Dipping under the weight is allowed, lowering to the chest is not.

Rest position overhead only, no swinging between snatches.

If a team member rest in the hang position or puts the bell on the floor, he’s finished and the next team member must come on.

If a team member drops the bell on the floor his numbers are not counted, and he’s out.

Only a single hand switch allowed.

And the winner is…

Details to be sent between the 8th-10th of March: I will publish a link on the 8th and name the winner teams AFTER viewing the videos.

Team name, and country

Event entered ( men’s, women’s, mixed, remote)

Full name, age, weight, bell weight and reps in jerk and snatch of each team member

Total weight lifted by the team: total reps for both events x weight used

Register your team and chosen event before the 28th of February 2009

Best of luck to all willing to sweat and push themselves! Spread the word

Any questions, drop me a line!

So the teams are?

1. Mat's crew in Albury
2. Winnie , Albi , Barbie , me, who else? Obviously we can't have a team of four. Emily? Jeff? .

I would be willing to give it a go. I have only really just started using 2x24kgs and wouldn't last more than 2.5 minutes.

Hi Ozzies!

I've put up a link on the blog where you can post your team's results.
One of my girls is out due to ankle injury, so I found a replacement. She's only trained KB 3 times before, but she is gold!

Our girl team will be doing the event next Thrusday, guys on Sunday the 8th.
Maybe there will be another team of guys, I haven't heard back from them in a while though...

Good luck!

Hope everyones ready! I've got a bit of a chest infection from this cold I've been carrying for the past week so Paul will step in for me, I'm still happy to coordinate the results and vids - Winnie, Barbie, I've sent an update through to your mailboxes. Good luck!

I'm as ready as I'm going to be. The Jerk is going to be ugly but it will be a line in the sand for me to work from. The last minute should make for humourous viewing as I look for somewhere to hide under 64kg :)

Preliminary results to be confirmed by judges: snatch 23L24R, jerk 20.
Aggrevated an old rib injury during the jerk, hurts to breath, reminds me of my football days :)

Sorry to hear one team fell apart, c'est la vie...
I hurt my wrist on wednesday, so I am a bit apprehensive about tonight, but we are ready!

I did 16kgs:
Snatch: L - 23; R - 15
Jerk: L - 26; R - 24
Times: L 1:45secs; R 1:30secs

Having trouble uploading my videos on to facebook but can email as required :-)

Stats:
Age 27 (as of friday! Damn! Should've competed two days earlier! haha!)
Weight 74kgs - great! Keeping the weight down

Excellent work team mates, and the details I forgot earlier: 35yo, 93kg both sets 3:15 and the link:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tcl5a4JMY4w&feature=channel_page

and that boys and girls is what someone looks like trying to hide under two kettlebells! I also lay claim to the second most awkard rack position.

Good on yous Ozzies!

So far you are winning!
I think all other teams had pathetic excuses and fell apart. Iwant to wait to next Sunday and see if they can get their act together...
Loved the video, Winnie!
How could you jerk with your wrist open like that? That was what forced me to stop as I couldn't straighten my wrist on the last rep. I felt I had not the strength to jerk the bell again. You made great use of the rack!

Cheers!

G'day!

Noone else dared join the challenge so you are the winners!
Well done, we'll have to do this again sometime, hopefully with more teams!

Your trophy is waiting for you in Denmark;)
