The choice of exercises and sports has never been bigger for the home enthusiast or professional. But weight training of the appropriate type (not machines) will shore up your spine , that tunnel that protects the squishy vulnerable extension of your brain. Strengthening the spine bones is a really important part of health and disease prevention. Time and effort well spent.

I got my bone density tested during senior's week when I worked at the City Baths and my bone density was 25% higher than the average woman of my age - no doubt the weight training over the past 3 years has had a lot to do with that.
Jeff's bone density was a whopping 50% higher than the average man of his age, the result of a lifetime of good resistance training and nutrition.

My BMI is listed as "unhealthy". I blame heavy Neanderthal bones.

Hi Paul,
Pretty unusual link you attached above-
"Neanderthal man was a direct descendant of Adam and Eve."
"Neanderthal man was not a product of evolution. All of the evidence properly understood supports the Genesis account of early man as described in the Bible. "
What the ..........I imagine you are just taking the piss?

I take the science , but gloss over the religious opinions. Did you watch the Chaser last night? 63% Americans believe the bible , literally.

HI Paul
No I don`t watch much tv. If Most Americans do believe the literal interpitation of the bible it is scary but not surprising. The rise of evangelical christianity is very disappointing in America and also in Australia. China is now the fastest growing christian country in the world, recent stats showing that their are now more chinese christians than members of the communist party. Help, a world full of god bothering, happy clapping willfully ignorant people :(
If you haven`t seen it already you should get your hands on a documentary called "The root of all evil" by Richard Dawkins. An excellent summary of what is wrong and irrational about monotheistic religion and religion in general. Bloody funny in places too. He has also written some good books on the subject.

Yes I saw that doc Adam , and read one of his books - plus stuff he's written on the web. I take a broad view of things , with a critical scientific eye! I am not one to place implicit trust in any religion , particularly those that preach fire & brimstone and secretly practise hypocrisy! Maybe this is getting a bit heavy for Rick's forum! But I spose even KBs are a religion for many , where sacred cows graze warily in the paddock of fitness plenty!
