Hi all,

The next GS comp will be Saturday 7th November 2009. For those who can't do it that day I'm sure we can accommodate sets done the following weekend too.

Rules will be the same as for the last comp, if anyone needs extra information please email emily@kettlebells.com.au

So... start training!

Hi Emily, will there be a opportunity to do the comp at Ironedge? If so what time, etc? I should be good to go on this one.

Hi Tom,

got a call from Paul yesterday and comp may be postponed until late November. I'll be away from the 2nd to 22nd November so if it's held during that time there may not be anyone to organise one at Iron Edge.

Will try to finalise things tomorrow and post.

If anyone has strong preferences for a date, including keeping the current date, please let us know. I think Paul was concerned that this comp hasn't been as well organised and promoted as we'd have liked.

I believe the rules of the next comp will be the same as the last, so yeah chair press will be included.

Anyone else have preference for dates?

Ok, in the interests of getting as many people involved as possible and making sure we've got venues etc organised, we're postponing the next GS comp until Saturday 28th November.

If this date is going to be no good for the people who usually host comps, please let me know and we'll work around that.

Same rules etc as the last one.

Feel free to post questions on here or email me at emily@kettlebells.com.au

I will be back to host the Melbourne comp at Iron Edge, will just have to work out times.

Please email me if you'd like to attend emily@kettlebells.com.au (either to compete or watch) so I know how many people to expect.

Albury GS Club results. 0730 start

As usual only two of us competed!!!! a lot of talk but poor entry numbers!!

Anyway Paul Goonan age 34, weight 96kg had his first atempt at the double 16 LCCJ, he completed the 10 minutes with 65 reps in total, a personal best for him.

Myself ( Mat Shields), age 33, 100kg decided to do the "two hands anyhow" in the jerk with the single 40kg kettlebell, I changed hands when needed and the kettlebell never got put down. Total time 10 minutes and I got 95 reps out. Personal best.

I hope to see more numbers compete in the future as it was a fun competition, even though their was only 2 of us.

Cheers

Adelaide equaled Aubury's awesome attendance:

Nick Souter:
Age: 37
Weight: 67kg
Snatch 16 kg: 142 reps (L67/R75) 5 mins each hand (17 better than the last comp).
OAJ 16 kg: 113 reps (L55/R58) 5 mins each hand (29 better than the last comp).

Stoyan Shopov:
Age: 30
Weight: 73
LCCJ 2x24kg: 63 (15 reps more than the last comp and an unofficial qualification for GS Rank I by most standards).

Personal bests all around, so we were both very happy. If there are any Adelaidians interested in trying out GS, send us an email and we'll help you train for the next competition.

Mat, 95 reps with the 40kg might even be better than the Australia's GS patriarch. Very impressive.

Congratulations to everyone else who competed. Looking forward to seeing your results.

We only had two here at Iron Edge too.

Simon Hikaka
Weight 93kg

20kg Snatch 103L/99R Total 202 10:00

2x20kg Long cycle 41 reps 7:00

Simon hadn't been doing much specific training for this one, so this was an excellent effort.

Emily Friedel
Weight 59kg

2x12kg long cycle 46 reps 10:00

I managed to get sick again last Thursday so just wanted to see if I could last 10 mins with a pair of 12s. If I'm feeling better by next weekend I might try to last 10 mins with a pair of 16s.

Congrats to everyone else on their PRs!

Hey Mat,

still no doubles for women's comps but I'm flat chested enough these days to do them safely ;)

I just wanted to do something different, for fun.

Well to those that competed , nice work - and yes I believe Mats effort with 40kg OAJ is a new Australian record!
I did not test myself ; 4 years straight of various comps - it was time for a break. I could say "not enough time to prepare" (after the sprint in Sydney) but that would be a lame excuse! GS selects those with a certain resolve . I am of the firm belief that in time enough people will be training with KBs to form a nucleus of athletes wishing to give their best at local, state and eventually national comps - in junior , adults and masters divisions.

Emily's efforts should be plenty to inspire those with a competitive bent and the courage that goes with individual sports.

Comps are also just a measure of current ability - like fun runs , participation counts for plenty.

We have plenty of work ahead to get the word out , but there is no timeframe. As us oldies like to say "patience is a virtue".

And Mat , I will dust the rust off my 40kg
cheers all
