Yes, for long sets, particularly jerks, they make a difference. Well worth investing in a pair if you're looking to train GS long term. Dunlop Volleys are great for light sessions and even snatch sets.

Of corse try Rick at Aust KB's but if you have no luck you can talk to Robert Kabbas at Phoenix weightlifting club (VIC) he picks up pairs when he's at comps overseas- you might get lucky. Other wise you'd be able to get a pair from Addidas US or Germany etc.

Good luck

Tom

Wednesday 9th September 2009

OAJ 28kg 6es
Hard at 5.45am! Felt pretty weak and half asleep but got them out.

About 10mins rest

OAJ 24kg 12es
Quads feeling pretty fried, but got through them ok.

About 30 mins rest

OALCC&J 8mins 20kg 12rpm
I made it, with 6 seconds to spare, but this took some serious will power this morning. On the bright side, I didn't feel as much like spewing as I did after Monday's set.

Few mins rest

OA cleans 24kg 6mins 8rpm

Took a class for an hour. Was still pretty spacey after the long cycle. Did 20mins cardio, just squat jump chin ups, burpees and box jumps for 20 mins. HR hit 193 at the end.

haha I'm an idiot. What I was going to say here was that I've got the Adidas Ironworks II and they're awesome, have tried the ZKC ones Rick sells and they're definitely of comparable quality. The ZKC ones have a bit of a higher heel, which is good, and they have a couple of velcro straps so it's easy to get them really tight over the whole foot.

I think most are helped by weightlifting shoes, but to which extent depends on your body-proportions. For me it was technically good and, more importantly, improved knee health.
