Just picked up a new Zhang Kong Comp Bar and 'economy' bumper plates from Australian Kettlebells in Richmond. The guys there are great to deal with, easy going, and know what they're talking about (which is certainly unusual for the retail sector!)
The plates will be fine for now. Their radius is 2.5mm larger than those that are IWF approved, and they're not calibrated, so the weights can be out by up to 0.5%. They're wider than standard bumpers, meaning that the maximum weight of the bar is restricted to 200kg plates + 20kg bar. This will do me for a long while! At around $4.00 per kilo, can't really go wrong.
Shots taken by dodgy iPhone because the missus left our e400 at her folks' house (can't show the detail in the knurling without a half decent camera)
Haven't used it yet - my legs feel like they're about to fall off after working out at PTC last night; The collars have an extremely smooth spinning motion when manually turned. Can't wait to grip and rip the knurling - it's like 120 grit sandpaper.
