Bumper plates have come a long way. It was only a short time ago that weightlifters had no option but to part with several thousand dollars for a set of plates. However, things have changed. The technology required to create a structurally sound bumper plate able to withstand the stresses of Olympic lifting has progressed.

The standard Iron Edge Bumper Plates are a blend of quality and price. If you are running a weightlifting centre, CrossFit box or commercial training environment we’d prefer to steer you towards our premium range of plates. However, for the average weightlifter training several times per week the standard Iron Edge range is near impossible to beat. They’re tough, come in traditional Olympic colours and are the best plates you can lay your hands on at this price point.

The key to the strength and durability of these plates is their thick, hardened steel inserts. Steel reinforcements protrude from the inserts and bite deep into the rubber to form a strong bond that can withstand the toughest abuse. A higher steel content within the rubber has been added to the 20’s and 25’s so they are the same width as the 15’s, strengthening them considerably and keeping them thin enough to allow you to load five plates per side on a standard 7 foot Olympic bar.

Skeptic about "New" bumpers
Ok here's the deal I have purchased bumper plates in the past and have seen many that make claims of just how good they are..So when i heard about these "new " Ironedge bumpers well of course i was skeptical about them. I must have spent hours trying to get info and specs on these plates.In the end i thought ok lets try them out and see, I have people that train in our centre that know quality when they see and use it so i thought let them decide.So far all i have had are ghreat responses from them, we will continue to use iron edge bumpers because quiet honestly they are great value for money.Any other training bumperplates dont come close we are sold on ironedge.

IRONEDGE BUMPERS
My name is Markos, I am the owner operator of Performance Training Centre in Frankston. We are a strength based gym, and I am the Strength Coach of the Frankston Dolphins VFL team.

We have a Powerlifting club that does well here and overseas. We have multiple World Record Holders and a World Champion. I also have a boy that just secured a scholarship as an offensive linesman in Texas.

We are not a regular gym, and we don’t lift regular weights. We have 300kg squats, 200kg benches and 300kg deadlifts. We have a former Olympic lifter who competed for Australia.

So having these high performance lifters in a high performance gym meant we had to have high performance equipment. Ironedge have been supplying equipment to us for 3 years. When I moved to the Frankston Dolphins ground, I inherited 65 footballers. We needed more plates.

Now bumpers aren’t cheap, but my clients expect equipment that won’t fail. That’s why we have Zhang Kong bars, Ironedge platforms and Pendlay bars. Rick told me he had new bumpers coming. When they arrived I quickly took some and gave them a workout.

Having 65 footballers use them, been through 2 Powerlifting comps, where they were used exclusively in the warm up area, and picked up and dropped for 5 hours a day by 100 lifters a week, 6 days a week, without a single issue. Perfect fit, perfect performance.

I weighed my steel Ivanko calibrated plates on our calibrated scales, they showed 20.00kg. The Ironedge bumpers read 20.05kg. Ivanko’s cost $15kg, the Ironedge cost a third of that.

There’s not much more I can add. A high quality bumper plate used in a high quality gym, for a regular price. We have over 500kg of them, with more to come.

Very Happy Customer, The bumpers Rock!

We recently got our bumpers from Ironedge AKB and they are the best I have seen yet. The steel inserts are rock solid and the plates hold form even when dropped!We are a crossfit affiliate so we flog them!! Rick and his crew put alot of time into the R and D for the new line of bumpers and it shows. We love them !!
